A Family’s Search for Real Food

Uncle Ted’s Beef Chips began with one dad’s simple mission: to feed his family better.

As a father of five, Dante started paying closer attention to what his kids were eating. Snacks were everywhere — school, sports, church, friends’ houses — and nearly all of them had one thing in common: seed oils. Sunflower. Canola. Soybean. The stuff modern grocery aisles are drenched in.

Once Dante learned how these oils can affect health, energy, and long-term wellness, something clicked. He wanted better for his kids. He wanted real food!

That’s when he discovered beef tallow — the way our great-grandparents cooked. But there was a problem. The only tallow-fried chips he could find cost $12 to $15 for a tiny 5-ounce bag. Completely out of reach for a working-class family of seven.

So instead of giving up, he got creative.

Dante fired up a deep fryer in the garage and started turning out homemade chips himself. Before long, it became a weekly family ritual — frying, seasoning, bagging, and sharing homemade tallow-fried chips.

That’s when he realized something bigger was happening.

If this works for their family, it could work for others too. And just like that, Uncle Ted’s Beef Chips was born.

I started making these chips because I wanted better for my kids. If you’re feeding a family too, I hope they bring a little peace of mind to your table.” - Dante Schmitz
